This season saw increased interest in the Conference, with two promotion places up for grabs. With the top 6 teams all being former League teams, many of them have kept the majority of their fanbases.

Conference chief executive John Moules said: 'A lot of things have contributed, but this is still traditional English football, which is affordable, family football played at a high standard'.

He added that when the play-offs were over, close to one million people will have watched the 'fourth division' this year.

Despite the good news, Town will be hoping that they are not in the conference next year.
