Moss has hit the top of Town's scoring charts despite playing the majority of the season in defence. He has hit four goals in four games since returning from suspension.

Crewe boss Dario Gradi was at Gay Meadow to watch the Saturday's Kiddy game where 23-year-old Moss excelled as captain.

Alex are struggling for defenders after Liverpool loanee John Otsemobor returned to Merseyside. Gradi admitted: "We've got a few we are watching. I've got to try to get someone in. I'd get a centre-half and two full-backs if I could. We might struggle with what we've got."

Former Wales u-21 star Moss is out of contract in the summer and was already known to Gradi, who noticed him when Moss was at Chester.
