The winger was part of the mammoth cull which saw nine players leave Gay Meadow this week.
But tricky Aiston has already caught the attention of former Town hero Ian Atkins, now boss of Bristol Rovers.
Aiston had been at Gay Meadow for five seasons following a £50,000 move from Sunderland. But he bacame a bit-part player under Gary Peters, and his inconsistent performances have lead to him being released.
Aiston is also rumoured to be interesting Grimsby Town. The Geordie has played 165 times for the Shrews, including helping to return the club from the conference in the 2003-4 season.
