Late fightback not enough for Shrews

League Two leaders Chesterfield demolished Shrewsbury with a stunning first-half display but ended up hanging on for a 4-3 victory. Goals from Drew Talbot, Jack Lester and Craig Davies shattered the visitors who conceded again when Davies added a second in the 63rd minute. But Mark Wright, Kevin McIntyre and Craig Disley hit back in the last 10 minutes to set up a tense finale. Graham Turner's team made a decent start despite their coach not arriving until 30 minutes before kick-off because of an accident on the M1 but sloppy defending undermined them. The ball was given away cheaply just outside the area in the 29th minute and Lester played in Talbot to score his second of the season. Lester headed a second in the 42nd minute when he got in front of a defender at the near post and Shrewsbury were finished when Davies smashed in an unstoppable 25-yard shot three minutes later. The striker turned in a Talbot cross for his 10th of the campaign and although Wright pounced in the 80th minute, McIntyre struck again a minute from time and Disley scored with a diving header, it was not enough.
