Shrewsbury midfielder Lionel Ainsworth has dismissed suggestions that the club's heavy August schedule could lead to player burn-out.The 23-year-old told BBC Radio Shropshire that eight games in the opening month are "a big incentive".

"It's a love of football - play Tuesday and you think, kick on to Saturday, and then on Saturday to the next Tuesday.

"The fans love it, we love it. It's just more football for us and we want to keep playing as much as we can."

Shrewsbury kicked off the League Two season on 6 August against Plymouth and then overturned Derby County in the Carling Cup the following Tuesday.

With more midweek games and the opening round of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy to contend with their League trip to Gillingham on 3 September will be their ninth game in exactly four weeks.

"The feeling's good, everyone's really happy in the dressing room, and with all these games we're really motoring," he added.

"To win on a Tuesday night, you might be tired, but you know inside you've done your job and you've given 110% - and you're already thinking about and getting excited about Saturday."
