All football clubs in Europe have been alerted to the possibility of financial self-regulation along the lines of the new rules which have recently been agreed in Spain.

Clubs from the top two teams in Spain voted overwhelmingly for measures to avoid bankruptcy and to balence books as money spirals out of control and the threat of closure increases for several clubs.

Spain is the most successful leauge in Europe over the past five seasons, and the clubs have taken these measures which could be copied in every leauge in Europe.

The Chief of the Spanish leauge has said "The leauge has seen the need to put this plan into action to consolidate our economic position and to deal with the ever increasing fluctuations in the spending at clubs.

The new system involves a sliding scale of punishments for clubs who get into difficulties with the possibilty of even being kicked out of the Leauge for the worst offenders.
