No Jeannin in Peters' lamp

The story first came to the fore when Weymouth boss Garry Hill revealed he had missed out on signing the left-sided defender.

Hill said: "Alex has said he is joining Shrewsbury which is disappointing because I was hopeful of signing him. The whole thing rested on him getting back into the Football League - that is what went against us."

Peters, a former Exeter manager, did not deny speaking to France-born Jeannin, but said no deal had been done.

He told the Shropshire Star: "There is nothing definite on any player at the moment - I have probably been speaking to four or five different players in that [left-sided defensive] position.

"Until I make my mind up which one I am definitely taking then nothing is certain," he added.

Peters also revealed why he doesn't like making transfer target public until the move is complete, "I won't be shouting my mouth off because you can look like a bit of an idiot if it doesn't come off," he explained.

Yesterday Peters denied a deal had been done with Scotish striker Colin McMenamin.
