Peters steps up planning for next season.

Peters was absent from the 1-1 draw with Notts County last week, and his assistant Mick Wadsworth could take charge again.

Peters feels he gets more benefit by watching potential signings in the flesh rather than on a tape.

"I was able to miss Saturday and can miss next Saturday's game if I need to because it does myself and the club more good if I'm somewhere watching a player who we might be signing for next season," Peters told ShrewsWeb.

Wadsworth has had over 600 games as manager at various clubs and is well capable of stepping in.

Peters is being cagey over any targets for next season in order to avoid alerting the attention of any rival suitors.

He explained: "I don't tend to talk about anyone that we are interested in because if I do and someone else moves for them quickly, then we could lose them."
