Former Halifax player Paul Harsley has been attracting interest from several league clubs, Darlington, Bristol Rovers and Bournemouth AFC and Shrewsbury Town have all expressed an interest in the right sided defender/midfielder according to Harsley's agent.
Darlo manager Tommy Taylor however revealed that they are pulling out of the race after the players agent demanded a fee in order to open talks with the relegated player.
Taylor said: "There's no way our chairman would agree to that, and I support him."
"If the agent keeps saying that, then we'll forget about signing him."
The 24-year-old player scored 12 times for Halifax Town last season, Halifax were relegated back into the conference.
