Town had most of the chances in the game, played at Hyde, but it was United striker David Bellion who broke the deadlock with a screamer on 80 minutes.

Town, lead by captain Kevin Street, refused to lie down and it was Street himself who restored parity only two minutes after the first goal.

Street has been a star performer for the reserves, scoring in every round of the cup competition.

It looked like extra time would decide the tie, but United grabbed the win courtesy of Ritchie Jones.

Town named a side featuring a mixture of experience and trialists, with regular first teamers Stuart Whitehead and Jake Sedgemore both featuring, as well as ousted goalkeeper Scott Howie.
