Sharp to skipper Shrews

Ian Sharps has been named Shrewsbury captain for the forthcoming season. The centre-half joined Town from Rotherham last month and has worn the armband throughout their pre-season campaign. "He's experienced and as a central-defender is in a good position to see the whole picture," said manager Graham Turner. "He is a good communicator with the rest of the lads and your skipper is there to sort things out and be the buffer between the players and the coaching staff. "It will be a role that Ian will fit comfortably."
