The unusual timing of the fianl means Town will have had nearly two weeks without a game. The importance of the fixture means that minimising the risk of injuries is also a priority.

There will be a day off for the players on Wednesday, though they will play a practice match and focus on set-pieces before the final. They will also study the video of Aldershot's game with Hereford.

Jimmy Quinn said 'We have designed the special training programme to all build up to Sunday so the players will be at their peak when we head for Stoke'.

The boss called on the experienced players in the side to have a calming effect on the squad, 'we have plenty of experienced heads in the squad and hopefully we will have enough on the day for everyone to remain focused', he said.

Meanwhile, Town captain Darren Tinson was named player of the year at the end-of-season dinner.

Tinson willbe hoping to captain his side to victory to send the remarkable 13,000 fans home happy come Sunday.
