Town to pick from those who apply

Several popular names have been mentioned, but not all of them have been confirmed as actual applicants.

Stan Ternent and Danny Wilson are the current fans' favourites, but it is thought that neither have applied for the job, instead waiting to be approached by the Town board.

Carlton Palmer confirmed that he had applied, and today it was revealed that both Jimmy Mullen and Chris Nicholl had formally applied. Other interested parties include Colin Lee and Bobby Gould, although it is not clear whether they have applied or not.

Mullen is currently in charge of Ludlow Town and Nicholl has not managed since leaving Walsall in 1997. Both want a return to the professional game.

Town director Keith Sayfritz told the Shropshire Star: "Obviously we'll be going for an experienced manager but we're not ruling anything out or anything in at this stage. We hope that we can find the right candidate for the job from the people that have actually shown an interest in the job."
