Turner delighted with crushing win

Lionel Ainsworth was the star, netting a hat-trick in the space of 13 minutes to add to Jon Taylor's strike and Julian Kelly's own goal. The result lifted the Shrews into the automatic-promotion places.

"We were excellent in the first half," said Turner. "We played some scintillating football - some of our movement and passing was top quality. The back four were as good as I've seen them. In the second half, we were a bit cautious and it never took off but we were magnificent in the first half.

"It's looking good for us at the moment. We're in third place. We've played one or two games more than teams around us but it's still a good position to be in."

On Ainsworth he added: "Lionel Ainsworth has produced some disappointing performances on the right. It was a new challenge for him to play as a striker.

"We know he can finish but his pace, control and his clinical finishing were outstanding. He only played up front because we had no one else. Tom Bradshaw would probably have started there had he been fit."
