Turner- Were in fine form

The Shrews needed to better Wycombe's result against Southend but the Chairboys' 3-1 win left the Shrews facing a play-off date with Torquay.

Second-half goals from Mark Wright, David Davies and Lionel Ainsworth handed them the points against a lacklustre Us outfit, leaving Turner in bullish mood ahaead of the clash with the Gulls, despite losing at Plainmoor earlier this season.

"We had probably our worst performance of the season down there but we have won seven of our last nine games and kept a clean sheet in five of them," said Turner.

"We are in fine form and we will go into the play-offs with optimism."

Turner added: "We have 79 points and six weeks ago I would have expected that to be good enough to go up with a number of teams in contention but it wasn't to be and now we must move on and prepare for the play-offs."
