Shrewsbury Town sensationally clawed back a three goal deficit to claim a point from a thrilling encounter against table-toppers MK Dons.

When the Dons raced into a 3-0 lead by the 40th minute the contest was seemingly over but back stormed the home side.

The Shrews reduced the arrears a minute from the break, before two second half goals from James Constable on his home debut - the equaliser coming in stoppage time - enabled Town to secure a point that seemed impossible at half-time.

With 11 wins already on their travels this term - earning them the best away record in the country - MK Dons moved through the gears during an impressive first half display that eventually saw them take the lead on 32 minutes.

When the Shrewsbury defence failed to clear a free-kick, Mark Wright was on hand to drill a low shot home from 20 yards, before the visitors increased their advantage three minutes later through veteran striker Kevin Gallen.

Shrews' 'keeper Glynn Garner was beaten by a fierce long range effort from Lloyd Dyer but when the ball rebounded from the crossbar, former QPR legend Gallen turned the ball home smartly from ten yards, scoring for the third consecutive match.

At this point Shrewsbury had no answer to a rampant Dons - who went further ahead on 40 minutes when Wright struck for a second time, netting from six yards after Garner could only palm away a Jemal Johnson shot.

From looking down and out Gary Peters' men dragged themselves back into contention when central defender Kelvin Langmead headed home a 44th minute corner.

They grabbed a second in the 70th minute when Constable followed his leveller at Brentford last Saturday by turning home a Chris Humphrey cross.

A point was then snatched right at the death, when Constable smashed home his second with a tiring MK Dons defence in disarray.
