Telford United surged into the last four of the FA Trophy with a 2-1 victory over bitter rivals Shrewsbury Town.

Luke Rodgers missed a great chance to give the visitors the lead after just 12 seconds, but it was Telford who took an early advantage on five minutes when Michael Blackwood's free-kick came back off the post and Robin Hulbert was first to react and poke the ball home from close range.

The Bucks created the better chances and doubled their advantage on 43 minutes when Dave Ridler was adjudged to have brought down Craig Stanley in the box and Tony Naylor made no mistake from the spot.

Shrewsbury came into the game in the second half with Rodgers twice going close and Duane Darby gave the visitors hope three minutes from time when he headed home a Ryan Lowe cross.

But Telford held on through four minutes of stoppage time to secure a deserved victory.
