Norwich boss Paul Lambert revealed earlier in the week that there were a number of players, namely former Shrew Grant Holt, Chris Martin, Oli Johnson and Cody McDonald, ahead of the veteran frontman in the pecking order at Carrow Road.
Simpson told BBC Radio Shropshire: "Cureton is a player I've spoken to, but I haven't had a yes or no - but that also goes for a number of others.
"I'm looking for someone with a track record of scoring goals, but at the moment I'm hitting a brick wall."
