Shrewsbury Town midfielder Sean McAllister faces a month out after being told he needs a hernia operation."The news is a bit of a blow for Sean and for us, but he's played on with the problem for a while now," Shrews boss Graham Turner told the club website.

McAllister, 23, joined Shrewsbury after his summer release by Sheffield Wednesday, where had previously been voted their Young Player of the Year.

He has made 18 starts this season for Turner's promotion-chasing Town.

After undergoing the operation on Friday, McAllister is expected to be back in training in three to four weeks.
