Shrews have seen their promotion hopes dented by back-to-back defeats and the collection of four points from a possible 15, although manager Simpson remains confident a place in the top three is still within reach.

But he insists Town need to start putting the ball in the back of the net more regularly in order for that to become reality.

Leading scorer Dave Hibbert was the last Town striker to do so way back on January 23, with on-loan marksman Jamie Cureton still to break his duck since arriving at the Prostar.

Simpson told the club's official website: "Goals have dried up, and the goals have dried up for Dave Hibbert in the last eight or nine games.

"We've not got goals in any area of the team, we haven't scored enough recently so it's up to the players who are selected to come out, go and perform, go and create opportunities and go and put a shift in that creates chances for us. And then hope one of them can go and be clinical and finish something off for us."
