Shrews have seen three successive defeats in March drop them three points adrift of the top seven, a stark cry to the previous two months of the year when they lost just two of 10 games.

"That's three defeats on the trot now and we have to address it and find a spark," said Simpson.

"We've got a group of players who through January and February played with confidence and freedom but have now unfortunately tightened up a little bit and got a bit nervy.

"We have got to find a way to get rid of that nervousness and get the spark back into them, and we've got to do that this week ready for our home game against Darlington."

Town have failed to even find the net in the three recent defeats, and Simpson added: "It goes without saying that's a concern and something that we've got to address. We have got players there who are capable of scoring goals but they aren't at the moment."
