Stanley call pitch inspection

The current wintery conditions sweeping the country have left the Crown Ground pitch covers under a layer of snow, with ice also on the ground in all surrounding areas.

And with the latest weather forecast predicting temperatures reaching as low as minus nine degrees over the next two nights, Stanley have decided it wise to hold an early inspection on Friday.

"All I can say is that we're doing everything we can," said Accrington chief executive Rob Heys. "We've got the pitch covers on and have procedures in place to remove the snow if we are looking good to go ahead on Saturday.

"Apart from that we're in regular contact with the referee and are getting him in as soon as possible and can hopefully make a decision so that everyone knows where they stand nice and early."

He added: "They are quite severe temperatures. Other clubs have had games called off this week. I think there will be quite a few fall foul of the weather this weekend as well. If we don't get it on it certainly won't just be Accrington Stanley that has a problem."
