Turner eyes more signings

Shrewsbury boss Graham Turner is hoping to add more new faces to his squad ahead of the npower League Two opener against Bradford next month. Former Rotherham skipper Ian Sharps arrived at Greenhous Meadow earlier this summer and Turner still has plenty more work to do in the transfer market over the coming weeks. Turner has already made signing a striker his priority following the departure of last season's leading goalscorer Dave Hibbert to Peterborough, while Walsall midfielder Mark Bradley is also thought to be on his radar. The former Hereford chief is confident he can seal some deals by early next week and he told the club's official website: "Between John (Trewick), Mike (Jackson) and myself we have spent a long time on the phone checking on players and I think we are close to fruition "I've always been the same in that I don't want to announce anything until everything is agreed and the ink is dry on the contract, I've lost players before by announcing it early and that's allowed bigger clubs to come in. There is the possibility of new faces this week but if not I would hope it will be early next week."
